At Torbram Dental, we believe most people could benefit from some aspect of cosmetic dentistry. And that doesn’t necessarily mean something complex that takes multiple appointments to complete. With cosmetic bonding in Brampton, for example, we can improve the size, shape, color, and alignment of the teeth that show when you smile in just one visit to our comfortable office. It’s a noninvasive, affordable way to achieve a more beautiful you!
Cosmetic bonding, also called direct or teeth bonding, is a cosmetic and restorative treatment we use to improve the appearance and/or function of the teeth that show when you smile. A tooth-colored composite resin is applied and then artfully sculpted directly onto the affected tooth or teeth. It is the same biocompatible, natural looking material we use in white fillings.
Cosmetic bonding is usually completed in a single visit to Torbram Dental. First, if any decay is present, your dentist will remove it and thoroughly clean and dry the tooth. The tooth must stay completely dry throughout the treatment, so we will use cotton to isolate it from any saliva or moisture. An etching solution roughens the surface of the tooth to encourage bonding between enamel and resin, and the composite resin is then applied directly to the tooth.
Using a blend of artistry and scientific expertise, your cosmetic dentist shapes the resin into the most pleasing appearance using special tools. Once we are satisfied the new tooth looks perfect, the composite resin is hardened in a matter of minutes under a special light.
After the procedure is complete, we will give you a small handheld mirror to reveal the first glimpse of your new, beautiful smile!
Because the treatment for cosmetic bonding is noninvasive and completed in just one visit to our office, most people are eligible for cosmetic bonding. For more significant dental damage, however, a dental crown or veneer may be the best solution. You and your dentist will fully discuss your cosmetic and restorative options to decide which is best for you.
Smokers should be aware of the fact that the porous composite resin will absorb stains from tobacco more readily than the tooth enamel. The same goes for coffee and other highly pigmented beverages and foods. It is a good idea to drink through a straw to prevent the fluid from coming into contact with the composite resin.
If small cosmetic imperfections are getting in the way of your most beautiful smile, cosmetic bonding in Brampton can help. Contact your dentist in Brampton to find out how! Request an appointment with Torbram Dental today.
