The holiday season is a fabulous time to show your others how much they mean to you. With all the joy and cheer in the air, you can’t help but share a smile. The holiday season is also the time to take care of yourself. And an essential aspect of it is taking care of your oral health. So, is your smile ready for the holiday season?
The impact of a brilliant smile throughout the holiday season
The power of a smile
Did you know that there is power behind every smile? A healthy, confident smile can change your overall health and your life. Research suggests that smiling can make people feel happier and more connected with others. You never know when a smile can come in handy or make someone feel special.
The importance of healthy oral hygiene and oral health
Healthy oral hygiene is one of the most critical aspects of overall health and wellness. The mouth is home to a variety of bacteria, which can lead them to cause cavities or infections in your teeth.
How smiles impact self-confidence
Smiling also makes people feel good about themselves because it makes them feel like others accept them. When you smile, neuropeptides are released by the brain that helps fight off stress. Other neurotransmitters, such as endorphins, serotonin, and dopamine, also come into play.
Why laughing and smiling is important for mental health
Laughter and smiling are essential for your mental health, as well as your physical health. When you laugh or smile, the chemicals in your brain change to produce dopamine (the “feel good” hormone).
Top dental treatments to get you holiday ready
Dental cleaning
Dental orteeth cleaning is a procedure to remove plaque and tartar from your teeth. The dental hygienist will use a tool called a scaler to remove tartar or the buildup of plaque on your teeth.
Cosmetic dental bonding
This treatment can improve the appearance of your smile, such as if you have missing or broken teeth or if some teeth are crooked. The dentist will use composite resin material to fill in cracks, gaps, and chips.
Teeth whitening
Teeth whitening is a cosmetic procedure that lightens teeth to the desired shade.
If you visit Torbram Dental, you can ask for “Opalescence,” a take-home whitening kit. This is available in different carbamide peroxide concentrations, ranging from 15 to 35%. It also has fluoride and potassium nitride that can deal with the toughest stains.
Here is how you can use it:
- Before you insert the whitening trays, brush and floss your teeth.
- These whitening trays have tooth space. Dispense one small drop of whitening product into these spaces. Make sure that you don’t get any gel on the gums. If it happens, wipe it away immediately using a cotton swap, or you will feel irritated.
- Wear overnight for the best results. You can also wear it for 2 to 4 hours twice a day.
The whole whitening process might take around 10 to 14 days. Once you have completed this initial process, you must do touch-ups every six months.
Tooth colored fillings
Tooth-colored fillings are made of composite resin, a material that can be used to restore decayed teeth. They are less likely to cause sensitivity or irritation than porcelain or gold fillings.
Complete smile makeover
A complete smile makeover is a cosmetic dentistry procedure that can be used to improve the appearance of your teeth and gums. It includes teeth whitening, dental bonding, porcelain veneers, dental implants, gum recontouring, and dental crowns.
