Are there several things you’d like to change about your smile? Perhaps your teeth aren’t as white and bright as you’d like them to be. Maybe some of your teeth are chipped or have slight cracks. Others are somewhat crooked or have gaps in between them. Rather than go through all of the different cosmetic procedures necessary to fix these smile imperfections, why not just have one? With porcelain veneers, the dentists at Torbram Dental have given people in Brampton, Ontario new smiles and they can do the same for you!
What are Porcelain Veneers?
Porcelain veneers, also called dental veneers, are made of micro-thin layers of dental porcelain that are bonded to the facial surface of your front teeth to conceal and correct the flaws in your smile. As such, porcelain veneers are considered a cosmetic procedure. However, because they might also protect teeth from further damage—such as a tooth fracture deepening—they are also a restorative procedure.
What is the Porcelain Veneer Procedure?
Your first toward a new smile with porcelain veneers is a consultation with one of our dentists. We’ll discuss your smiles goals and assess the current condition of your oral health, making sure your teeth are strong enough for veneers. Then, we’ll work with you to choose the shape and shade of porcelain veneers that will best compliment you.
Next, the teeth in your smile zone are prepared by removing a very small amount of enamel, so your veneers will lay flush with your other teeth. Then, we’ll take an impression of your teeth, which will be sent to a cosmetic dental lab where your custom-made veneers are fabricated. While your permanent veneers are made, you’ll wear temporaries. In a few weeks, you’ll return to Torbram Dental to have your own veneers bonded in to place. With proper care—brushing, flossing and regular checkups—you’re porcelain veneers can last for years.

What is it about modern technology that inspires confidence? When a dentist or doctor’s office uses outdated equipment—or even if the office furniture looks like it’s leftover from the 80’s—somehow the effect is less than reassuring. At Torbram Dental in Brampton, Ontario, we take pride in using the latest dental technology in order to provide our patients with the best of care and the greatest of comfort.
Our commitment to staying up-to-date begins when you first arrive. All of our records are maintained with paperless charting. With all of your dental records on computer, we can easily access photographs and digital x-rays during your appointment. And of course, no paper means less waste and better organization.
If you are coming to Torbram Dental for a checkup and it’s time for x-rays, we only rely on digital x-rays, which require less radiation than typical x-rays while providing more detailed information about your oral health. Furthermore, digital x-rays are “developed” instantly on our chairside computer screen, so you and the dentist can simultaneously view them.
To find even the smallest spot of tooth decay, we use DIAGNOdent, a laser technology that reveals cavities in the earliest stages of development. Found early, we can treat cavities more successfully, and we are able to preserve more of your natural tooth structure. And with intraoral cameras, we can view and magnify other developments in your mouth that would otherwise be invisible to the naked eye.
CEREC and Laser Dentistry
If you require a dental crown to restore a tooth’s appearance and function, then with CEREC we can prep your tooth, prepare your crown and have it cemented into place in one visit. CEREC is in-office dental CAD/CAM equipment that allows us to take an optical impression of your tooth and design and mill the restoration in one visit.
For patients who need treatment for gum disease or gum contouring, our dentists use soft-tissue lasers. Lasers produce energy in the form of light and in dentistry they offer pain-free precision, greater comforter and faster healing times.

Do you avoid dental visits because of dental drills and needles? For the many patients who suffer from a dental anxiety, the very thought of dental work can send chills down the spine. Most of the time, their fear is derived from the presence of dental tools like drills, needles, or scalpels. Today however, modern dentistry affords the retirement of some of these tools, which have been replaced in many procedures, by the less invasive and pain free dental laser. Laser dentistry has completely replaced the need for these antiquated dental tools in many treatments. To enjoy the benefits of modern laser dentistry, make your next appointment with Torbram Dental. Dr. Fava consistently delivers comfortable, pain free care. Torbram Dental proudly serves patients throughout Brampton, Mississauga, Georgetown, Woodbridge, and the surrounding Ontario communities.
What Is Laser Dentistry?
Dental lasers work by delivering beams of energy in light form. In dentistry, lasers can gently cut away or shape soft tissue. Lasers can also be used to strengthen the bond between a filling and a tooth. For teeth whitening treatment, lasers can enhance the effect of the bleaching agents.
How Is Laser Dentistry Used?
- Treat Periodontal Disease: Lasers can be used to remove diseased gum tissue and reshape the gum line. They can also be used to prevent gum disease from forming. Lasers remove tooth decay from tooth roots by removing the gum tissue covering the decay. They may also be used to decontaminate deep gum pockets that store bacteria.
- Gum Contouring: Lasers can be used in soft tissue crown lengthening procedures to reshape and expose healthy tooth underneath. This procedure may be performed to provide a stronger base for dental restorations, or to cosmetically reshape the gum line.
- Root Canal Therapy: Lasers can easily melt away root canal infection. They can also be used to sterilize the mouth before or during dental treatments.
Why Choose An Ontario Laser Dentistry For Your Dental Care?
- Laser dentistry reduces the need for anesthesia needles
- Laser dentistry helps patients avoid the dental drill
- Laser Dentistry minimizes bleeding and swelling during and after soft tissue procedures
- Laser Dentistry preserves more healthy tooth structure
Research has confirmed the effectiveness of laser dentistry as an alternative to dental drilling. Lasers are more accurate than other tools, and can significantly reduce post- treatment healing times. Although laser dentistry cannot be used with every procedure, it can make a valuable contribution toward your continued care and comfort. Make your laser dentistry appointment with Torbram Dental today. Dr. Fava and his team are highly qualified laser dentistry experts. Torbram Dental proudly restores smiles daily throughout Brampton, ON, Mississauga, Georgetown, Woodbridge, and nearby areas.

With the holiday season upon us, there is hopefully much to smile about. But what if you are reluctant to smile because you don’t like your smile? Then what? Well, a smile makeover could be the solution. At Torbram Dental in Brampton, Ontario, CA, we offer a full menu of cosmetic dentistry services to give you a smile you’ll want to share.
A smile may be less than perfect for a variety of reasons, some of them preventable and some unavoidable. Those reason include chips, cracks and decay; staining due to the foods we eat and drink, tobacco or some medications; misalignment, gaps and misshapen teeth. Regardless of what’s making you unhappy about your smile, the dentists at Torbram Dental—Dr. Vince Fava, Dr. Summer Al Maqdassy and Dr. Joseph Hasso—have the training and techniques to create your perfect smile makeover.
For a smile that is stained or discolored there is teeth whitening. Torbram Dental offers both in-office and at-home teeth whitening systems. With our in-office treatment, you’ll have a whiter smile in about one hour. On the other hand, our at-home system allows you to whiten in the privacy and comfort of home.
For teeth that are more severely discolored or have chips and cracks there is cosmetic bonding or porcelain veneers. The bonding procedure repairs mildly cracked or chipped teeth. A composite resin is applied and molded to renew the tooth and is then hardened with a special light.
Porcelain veneers are made of micro-thin layers of dental porcelain and are designed to replicate your natural teeth. Fabricated in a cosmetic dental lab to our exacting specifications, your veneers are bonded to your teeth and will last for years with a bit of tender loving care.
On the other hand, if your gums are the reason you hide your smile, then perhaps a gum graft or gum lift is the answer. A gum graft treats a receding gum line, while a gum lift removes excess gum to make teeth look longer.

Risk Factors for Gum Disease
- Smoking- will dramatically increase your chances of developing gum disease and can lower the chances for successful treatment.
- Hormonal Changes-in girls and women. These changes can make gums more sensitive and make it easier for gingivitis to develop.
- Diabetes– people with diabetes are at higher risk for developing infections, including gum disease.
- Pre-Existing Illnesses– diseases like cancer or AIDS and their treatments can negatively affect the health of gums.
- Medication– some prescription and over-the-counter medications can reduce the flow of saliva, which has a protective effect on the mouth. Without enough saliva, the mouth is vulnerable to infections such as gum disease.
- Genetics- some people are more prone to severe gum disease than others.
- Age and Sex– men are more likely to have gum disease than women. People don’t usually develop gum disease until their 30s and 40s.
Stages of Gum Disease
The longer plaque and tartar are allowed to accumulate on teeth, the more harmful they become. The bacteria cause inflammation of the gums called gingivitis. With gingivitis, the gums become red, swollen and can bleed easily. Gingivitis is a mild form of gum disease that can usually be reversed with daily brushing, flossing and regular dental cleanings. When gingivitis is not treated, it can advance to periodontitis. With periodontitis, your gums pull away from your teeth and form spaces that become infected. If this condition goes untreated, the bones, gums, and tissue that support the teeth will be destroyed. These teeth may become loose and need to be removed.
Gum Disease Treatment in Brampton, Ontario, CA

- Bone grafting where natural or synthetic bone is placed in the area of bone loss to promote bone growth
